Not all forests we have seen in these days are well managed, some of them seem more like an industrial servants than living being. But this one is different, yet highly connected with human touch with remnants of the building in the forest. A picture of some previous times, hopes and wishes with a lime (Tilia) tree as a silent protector a "sheppard" of forest species visible and nonvisible.

Par Janez Pirnat - Publié dans : feelings and opinions

On the first week we were having some field trips and collecting as much information about the region and the windbreaks as possible.

This progress was quite succesful as we managed to make many experiences and photographs, so on the weekend we already had a basic idea what to do. One part of teh grop went to Stavanger as well to interview a local expert. With all these informations we colud already start to plan tha 2nd generation of the windbreaks.

Anyway, there are three foresters in the group so we had some knowledge about windbreaking at the beginning. Also Roland was helping us a lot as a specialist.

The past few days were spent with designing the general plans, and after hat we were working on some details. Now we are close to have an exact plan, everything is going fine.

Sarah is our artist, so she does the draws we need. Urska is working with the maps. Anais, Kata, Andora and me are working on the theorethical background of the design of the plantations ( rows, hedges, advantages, possible species etc.), and toda we started to put together our presentation.

Today we've visited the Lista Naturmusem - and I must admit, it was a great surprise! From the outside one would not really expect what is inside: a huge amount of beautifully stuffed birds, organised aesthetically in a colourful collection.

Later the day we've checked some sites that would be suitable for bird-watching.

We've found a lot of interesting birds worth seeing: Canadian, Barnacle and Greylag geese, Tufted ducks and Goldeneye.

I made some pictures through a telescope :)

listafyrTuesday, the 31st of May : 8.00 am

Yesterday, Mr Stein Nordhaug invited us to have a walk on the field in order to better understand the historical dimensions of these landscapes. With some professors and studentse went from Borhaug to Lista light tower and discovered old graves, ancient management and new ones to fight against the waves... an amazing trip guided by a very motivated person, unfortunatly under rain and fog but with no wind at all.

Monday, the 30th of May : 3.30 pm

At 3.30 we met again in order to present the state of our investigations to some people in order to have their feedback. It is clear that a lot of wrok has been done. The question now is to better connect the groups each others. For instance, the Trailing group can have better connections with the windbreak group, the sustainable tourism group can exchange opinions with the "general ressources" group. After the presentation, thre discussions contnued after the dinner.
