Tuesday, 2nd. day of the 2008 Blekinge -LAMB - workshop, started with an efficient introduction by course organizer Roland Gustavsson on the 5 group themes that we will be working on along the Bräkenån valley in Blekinge county.

Immediately afterwards the groups got into their cars to get a first impression of their study areas before lunch. One group will work on making an Image for the whole valey, while other will concentrate on each their valley section: Upper part with forestry and population decline as the main focus, the middle part with the small scale mosaic of forest, agriculture and small "torp"-settlements; a third group will work in the area around the main village/town of Bräkne-Hoby's connection with its surroundings, especiallay the river; a fourth group focuses on the understanding and development of the intensively farmed areas south of the town and the conflicting land uses there, whereas a last group will work in the coast area with its many conflicting uses, like camping, boat-hire, bathing, fishing, summer-house development and public access to the sea shore.

Rain set in just before lunch and the afternoon visits to four different schools in Brãkne-Hoby will be a wet experience.

coffee brake outside. With this fire, raining was not so terrific

Threee persons, one of them me, did not participate: We had important business to attend to at Systembolaget and the Expert-shop in Ronneby. Now that I have a camera, i will also be able to publish some pictures soon. We also took the opportunity to see what Brãkne-hoby had to offer shop-wise. It is dificult to find a word for the atmosphere of this little town. It is certainly too early for me to do so, not knowing the Swedish context, nor the regional one. magnificent church and church yard, but otherwise ???

today is a great day

the new landscape ambassador course has started again in a very nice place "Pagelsborg". it is an unbelievable countryside in the middle of the typical swedish Blekinge. Around 30 students from 6 countries, 5 discplines, 1 professor for each universty and a great challenge: producing information and analysis of the landscapes related to local activities and feelings that will be presented at the end of the seminar

I wanted to introduce the seminar in the blog earlier but a very stupid thing has delayed the reopenning of the blog. My ID card was out for one month ans I couldn't take my flight yesterday I had to recover my passport and I took a flight one day after.

While I was crossing Europe from France to Germany than from Germany to Dennemark than from Dennmark to Sweden, the students were still working on the field. First meetings with people, first discoveries of the so emotional landscapes and at the end of the day, I dinner with all local people involved in the local development.

At the end of the evening, cross presentations of the uiversities and countries with a warm coffee.
