Hi everyone !
It was just to say that things are (almost) back to normal in France (Clermont-Ferrand in particular) and that it's almost depressing, I think we were having a good time in Portugal and now that
we're back we have to face everything about which we could'nt think when we were there ...
Anyway, we french agronomist had a great time, and on behalf of everyone in my university, THANK YOU VERY MUCH once again, it was so much worth it.
See you on the other side.

This image illustrates rather
well how multifucntionnal a landscape is. On the first plan, the vineyards, irigated and productive ilustrates the actual intensive production dedicated to the general
market. Just behind, you can distinguish on your left a new olive plantation recently planted on the slopes of a gentle hill covered by a ruined windmill. The yellow cors are due to a
specific flower (Oxalis) which grows on cultivated lands in south Europe. Close to it, a flock is grazing a pasture under an old olive plantation. it is one of the last living element of an
old system (cereals and sheep) that was very important in this area but that had decreased a lot for 50 years (see in the blog the old postcards). The renewed windmill on your right is an
indication that these elements of the past are now considered as a prt of the local heritage as the castle on the background.
One challenge for the future could be to conceive new farming systems, related to this past and able to produce inough profit to permit both farmers and these landscapes to live. That could
be possible with public help (as CAP did in the past) or by integrating the landscape production in the price of the product (specific wine, olive oil or
flock) or with other services (specific touristic trails like the ecopista), A specific trademark would guarantee the origin, the quality and the type of production and services.
That was one of the ideas presented by the students during the final presentation.
What is your opinion about it?

Now, everybody has reeched his home but it is not a reason to forget all those who have supported our project.
First of all, this seminar couldn't have been possible without the support of ERASMUS founds. This agreement as an intensive program is also the prouve that our idea was interesting at a
European scale. The final presentation was absolutely at the level expected for this type of seminar. Thanks to the students who have been able to reach this difficult goal.
Secondly, we received a support from the French foreign office and the Portuguese ministry of science s that have permit to Teresa and I to meet us several time to prepare the program
.
But we don't forget the local helps offered by the Municipality of Montemor and have permit to discover many aspects of the Portuguese cooking
the CAEI, who has allowed Catarina to participate to the organisation
And of course, the Espaçao de Tempo who has so well organised the stay for the students and the professors, prepared the information for the final presentation and given this friendly
feelings during all the time, never complaining, everytime smiling even if some time they could have been disturb by so many students.
MANY THANKS TO ALL. WE WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR US

The Swedes started their travel very early in the morning (6.30 am) . Then all the others took the bus offered by Montemor municipality and at 10.15 am we wer all at lisbonn
airport. I t was difficult to leave us but as frenchies had a very short time to register we didn't had time to cry!
Nice flight, beautful view,

a little tired but it's the price to pay for these 2 intensive weeks.
We hope that all the others have well travelled. We expect that some will fill the blog to tell us their travel back!
