What is this?
Saturday, the 28th of May
In the Daily photo, I presented a strange iron stick and I beleived that it was a rest of the second world war.
I was totally wrong. Here is the correct explanation, sended by Ernst Mathiassen that we met yesterday with the "farming diversification " group.
He explains us that :
'This is an iron locker.
When I was a boy all the land from this point and down to the sea was a commend land for all the farmers on Stave. We used to let the cows, the cattle, the sheep and the horses go here on the pasture in the summertime. At this point there were a led across the road. When we close the led we put an iron stick (that was connected to the led) in this iron locker.
So when I was young this was a social meeting point where neighbor could ask for news on the farms and young people met when they should bring the cows home for milking or bring their horse home for doing some work. I have many good memories from this point and I love it. It was nice to see a picture of it here J
Many thanks to him for this interesting comment.
