second week

With less than one week, it was really a great deal to meat people, to analyse the landscape and it’s changes and to prepare a presentation well organised, rich enough and pleasant to follow.

Four groups worked in the same time, focussed on different topics:

  • Landscape character assessment, crossing the point of view of the students with those of the locals and the stakeholders
  • Landscape changes, analysed with old documents from the archives, old maps and aerial photos and compared with what people thought about these events.
  • Farming and forestry practices and the interaction with this periurban context
  • Multifonctionnality of this territory and the possibility of developing participatory approaches by using specific tools

After different discussions, we decided to organise the final presentation in three parts that permit to combine the approaches of the four groups. (I landscape perceptions, II landscape practices and dynamics, III stakes and propositions).

Days have only 24 hours and the students discovered the excitement to work the main part of the night, combining the work with some funny breaks. Long discussions, some difficulties with the language, some misunderstandings haven’t been powerful enough to stop the process. Of course, the night have been reduced to a very short rest but we found the time to make a "pre" final presentation in English, before the actual final one.
