Describe a landscape is not so easy at it seams. That is the aim of this exercise.

One student stands in front a vue and chose a scenary and describes it to the others who are standing back to this vue.
To be sure that nobody will be influneced during the transportation, the Swedes and Norwegians decided to blind the drawers.

When they arrived at the place, the drawers turned back and tried to express by a sketch what their colleague was saying.  norwegian-BACK

As you can see, the results are not exactly similar.

Here is the real vue

Back home, we analysed the results and try to define why there was such a distance between the vue and the drawings. One group experimented the exercise in English, that wasn't the mother languange of any students. But it was not the unique reason. One problem was that many discribers started by giving many details without explaining inside which frame wwas integrated the vue. Some had some difficulties with the positition of the elements (the left size of the discriber was the right one of the drawers. Some desciptions was not precise enough. And often, not any infoirmation has been given about the deepness of the vue.

At the end, this exercise illustrates the difficulties to speek about the landscape in a way that is understandable by the others... A good introduction for the next lectures and the application on the field.
